ONLINE PAN APPLICATION – Procedure for Scanning Specification
Scanning Specification of Documents for online PAN Application through UTIITSL portal is one of the common activities done on daily basis by the users. However, many users faced the problems related to upload of Documents, Photo, Signature and PAN Application Form as proper scanning specification of the same cannot be done accurately.
Although guidelines are there on the UTIITSL portal for Scanning Specifications of Documents, but there is a need to describe the procedure of Scanning Specifications of the same so to enable the user to upload them smoothly for PAN Application.
First of all let us know what type of Scanning Specifications of Documents, Photo, Signature and PAN Form are required for successful upload of the same. As already mentioned in the portal that
(i) Photo of the Applicant must be scanned under 300 dpi colour with pixel size 213 × 213 in JPEG Format. The size of scanned Photo must be less than 30kb.
(ii) Signature should be preferably in Black Colour and must be scanned under 600 dpi in JPEG Format. The size of scanned Photo must be less than 60kb.
(iii) The duly-filled up and signed PAN Application Form along with self attested documents accepted as Proof of Identity, Proof of Address and Proof of Date of Birth must be scanned in PDF Format with 200 dpi colour. The size of the completed scanned document should be less than200 mb and must be saved as a single file consisting of multiples pages for upload.

From the Printer Scanner, select dpi as 300 and format of file as JPEG. Thereafter, scan the Photo and saved in any destination drive or Folder as per convenience. Then right click on the photo and choose the option opened with Paint.
On next screen, crop the photo by using the option select (Rectangular Selection)
Then resize of the photo as per specification can be done using the option mentioned in the below screenshot.
Click on OK, save the file using Ctrl+S button and close it

Procedure for Scanning Specification of Signature:-
From the Printer Scanner, select dpi as 600 and format of file as JPEG. Thereafter, scan the Black Coloured Signature and saved in any destination drive or Folder as per convenience. Then right click on the saved file of Signature and choose the option open with Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
On next screen, Select Edit Pictures on the Middle-Top and click on Crop
The next screen will have the option to crop the signature according to requirement. Again click on Edit Pictures on the Middle-Top and then click on Compress Pictures

On next screen select E-Mail messages
Click on OK, save the file using Ctrl+s button and close it.

Procedure for Scanning Specification of PAN Application Form along with KYC Documents:
From the Printer Scanner, select dpi as 200 and format of file as PDF. Thereafter, scan the PAN Application Form, followed by scan of remaining documents and saved as single file consisting of multiple pages in any destination drive or Folder as per convenience.

The size of scanned file (in kb/mb) saved in destination drive or folder can be verified by right click on it and further click on Properties option.
