विश्वों के सभी देशों में आवाजाही के लिए जिस सरकारी दस्तावेज की जरुरुत पड़ती है उसे पासपोर्ट और वीजा कहते है। देश के किसी भी नागरिक को विदेशो में जाने के लिए सरकार से अनुमति लेना पड़ता है। इस अनुमति को सरकारी दस्तावेज के रूप में प्राप्त करना पड़ता है जिसे पासपोर्ट कहते है। किसी भी उद्देश्य के लिए नागरिकों को जिस देश में भी जाना पड़ता है वहां प्रवेश करने और अस्थाई रूप से रहने के लिए भी उस देश की सरकार से अनुमति लेना पड़ता है।

यह अनुमति पासपोर्ट पर ही अधिकारिक सरकारी मुहर के रूप में लगवाया जाता है जिसे वीजा कहते है। पासपोर्ट के जरिये व्यक्ति की पते और पहचान की पुष्टि होने के साथ साथ यह भी सुनिच्चित किया जाता है की वह किस देश का नागरिक है। वीजा के माध्यम से यह पुष्टि किया जाता है की व्यक्ति को दुसरे देश में प्रवेश करने के पश्चात कितने समय तक वहां वास करने की अनुमति प्राप्त है।

पासपोर्ट	वीजा
पासपोर्ट एक क़ानूनी दस्तावेज है जिसे देश के नागरिको को विदेशों में जाने के लिए सरकार द्वारा जारी किया जाता है।	वीजा एक प्रकार की मुहर है जिसे विदेश के सरकार द्वारे पासपोर्ट पर उपलब्ध रिक्त पन्नो पर लगाया जाता है और उसके पश्चात ही किसी भी देश के नागरिक को विदेश में प्रवेश करने और अस्थाई तौर पर रहने की अनुमति प्राप्त होता है।
पासपोर्ट का आकार देखने में एक पॉकेट डायरी की तरह होता है।	वीजा विदेश के सरकार की अधिकरिक मुहर होता है जिसे पासपोर्ट पर उपलब्ध रिक्त पन्नो पर लगाया जाता है।
व्यक्ति जिस देश की नागरिक है, पासपोर्ट उसी देश की सरकार जारी करती हैं।	व्यक्ति जिस देश में जाना चाहता है, वीजा उसे देश के सरकार द्वारा जारी होता हैं।
पासपोर्ट के द्वारा व्यक्ति की पहचान, पते और नागरिकता की पुष्टि होता है।	वीजा का मकसद विदेशों में क़ानूनी वैधता के साथ प्रवेश करना और वहां अस्थाई तौर पर रहना होता है।
पासपोर्ट देश के संबंधित सरकारी बिभाग द्वारा जारी होता है।	वीजा विदेशों के सरकारी दूतावास द्वारा जारी किया जाता है।
किसी भी नागरिक को पासपोर्ट जारी करने करने से पहले उनकी क़ानूनी जांच पड़ताल होती है और सब कुछ क़ानूनी रूप से सही पाए जाने पर ही उनके नाम पासपोर्ट जारी होता है।	किसी भी व्यक्ति को उनके नाम जारी किया गया पासपोर्ट के आधार पर ही वीजा जारी किया जाता है।

भारत में कितने तरह के पासपोर्ट होते हैं?

Passport Act 1967 के तहत, भारत के नागरिको के लिए सरकार द्वारा तीन तरह के पासपोर्ट जारी किया जाता है-

Ordinary Passport (P-Type Passport, P means Personal)

इस तरह के पासपोर्ट देश के आम नागरिकों को जारी किया जाता है। इसका बाहरी रंग गहरा नीला होता है और इस पर छत्तीस या साठ रिक्त पन्ने होते है। इन्ही रिक्त पन्नो पर वीजा का अधिकारीक मुहर लगता हैं।

Official Passport (P-Type Passport, S means Service)

इस तरह के पासपोर्ट देश के सरकारी पदों पर कार्यरत उन अधिकारों को जारी किया जाता है जो विदेशों में देश का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। इसका बाहरी रंग सफेद होता है।

Diplomatic Passport (D-Type Passport, D means Diplomat)

इस तरह के पासपोर्ट देश के राजनियक या उच्च प्राथमिकता वाले सरकारी अधिकारीयों के नाम जारी होता है। इसका बाहरी रंग मैरून होता है।

वीजा कितने तरह के होते हैं?

नागरिकों की जरूरते और उनके कार्य के अनुसार वीजा प्रणाली को कोई श्रेणियों में बाटां गया है जिनमें प्रमुख है –

VISA यानि Visitors International Stay Admission – यह एक तरह का अनुमुती होता है जिसके द्वारा देश के नागरिक को किसी दुसरे देश में प्रवेश करने और अस्थाई रूप से रहने का अधिकार प्राप्त होता है। वीजा में अंकित प्रवेश और रहने की अवधि पूरा होने पर नागरिक को स्वदेश लौटना अनिवार्य हो जाता है। इसके लिए सभी देशो ने अपने तौर पर सख्त कानून बना रखे है। किसी भी लापरवाही या इसका उलन्घन्न करने से कड़ी से कड़ी सजा का प्रावधान है।

What is the difference between a passport and a visa?

Passport size Photo Size – How many passports are there in India?

Under the Passport Act 1967, three types of passports are issue by the government to Indian Citizens –
a. Ordinary Passport (P-Type Passport, P means Personal)
Such passports are issue to common citizens of the country. The color of its outer cover is dark blue. It consists of 36 or 60 pages. These blank pages bear the official seal of the VISA.

b. Official Passport (S-Type Passport, S means Service)
Such passports are issue to those working in government posts in the country that represent the country abroad. The colour of its outer cover is white.

c. Diplomatic Passport (D-Type Passport, D means Diplomat)
Such passports are issue in the name of the country’s diplomatic or high-priority government officials. The colour of its outer cover is maroon.

The full form of VISA is Visitors International Stay Admission – This is a kind of permission by which a citizen of the country gets the right to enter another country and stay their temporarily. It becomes mandatory for the citizen to return to their own country on completion of the expiry period of the VISA. For this, all countries have made strict laws on their own. There is a provision of severe punishment on violation of Passport-VISA Rule.
